Character Breakdown – All Roles Available

**All actors / actresses MUST be able to sing in tight 4 part harmonies**

Forever Plaid

Francis: (Male, 20-35, Range: F3-B5) The leader and caretaker of the group. Confident. Asthmatic. He has a great deal of compassion for the music and the group. Romantic crooner and spiritual singer.

Jinx: (Male, 20-35, Range: F3-C6) The shy one. He lives his life terrified and doesn’t always remember what song comes next. Sparky’s step-brother, he occasionally gets a nosebleed when he sings above an A

Smudge: (Male, 20-35, Range: F3-G5) The worrier. He worries about the props, the running order, and always assumes the audience won’t like him. Has chronic nervous stomach and is oddly reluctant to perform. Wears glasses, which hides his good looks and sex appeal.

Sparky: (Male, 20-35, Range: F3-G5)The clown of the group, who is shown to have a heart. Very sharp and loves singing his tailor-made solos. Wears a retainer and has a slight speech impediment. Energetic and clever.

The Taffetas

Kaye: (Female, 18-40) Kaye is the level headed one of “The Taffetas”. She is very maternal and is the group’s business-minded leader. She likes to write and record all of her experiences in her diary and hopes to publish it under the title “My Life In Taffeta”.

Peggy: (Female, 18-40) Peggy is the most studious and spends her free time studying short hand. Her favorite past times are learning to cook all of her mother’s favorite recipes and painting by numbers. She will probably leave the group to become a secretary.

Donna: (Female, 18-40) Donna is looking for a guy with a Chevrolet convertible. She loves to collect film star photos and…best of all…riding in the front seat of her Daddy’s dreamy two-tone Chevy Bellair convertible, with the top down of course.

Cheryl: (Female 18-40) Cheryl has man trouble. She is crazy about Johnny, who has dumped her. Her favorite pastime is improving her Canasta game and her spare time is spent performing her duties as president of the Mario Lanza fan club.
