Rent
Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent tells the story of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Tragically, the show's creator, Jonathan Larson, died the night before the off- Broadway premiere. The show went on to garner critical acclaim as the ninth longest running show in Broadway history and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Musical.
Broadway actor Alan Mingo, Jr. (AEA) joins this cast of Rent reprising the role of “Tom Collins” that he performed on Broadway. Alan has also been seen in Broadway’s The Little Mermaid as “Sebastian” and on the National Tours of Shrek the Musical (Donkey), Hairspray (Seaweed J. Stubbs) and Lion King (Simba). In addition, Adam Theodore Barry (AEA) will be returning to PCRT as “Angel” after receiving rave reviews for his performance as “Gaston” in last fall’s Beauty and the Beast. A very talented group of professional and regional actors complete this ensemble cast.
Don't miss award-winning director Jasen Jeffrey's fresh vision on this contemporary piece of musical theatre.

In a nearby village Belle, a dreamer, longs for a more exciting life. When her eccentric father is imprisoned by the Beast, she sacrifices her freedom so he may go free. Although initially outraged by his demands, Belle's feelings for the Beast grow as his inner goodness emerges. When an egotistical and self-centered former suitor of Belle's stabs the Beast, the heartbroken Belle expresses her feelings to her dying love, breaking the spell and restoring the Beast to a handsome prince.
